The dimensions of
a generative field.

Seven primary dimensions. One conceptual frame for Membrane Integrity, two subscales for measurement. One overlay — Temporal Durability — that decides whether anything you measured will still mean anything in a year.

Why the membrane is split

A sealed person and a leaky person are not the same animal.

v3.11's surgical move: Membrane Integrity is one conceptual dimension, but the instrument splits it into Receptivity (can the person be affected?) and Containment (can they remain whole while affected?). Both score "low" without the split, but they are profoundly different clinical pictures. The ideal is permeable — not leaking.

Illustrative profile. The radar always splits Receptivity and Containment, even though they share a parent.

Dimension

Reality Contact

Can the person perceive what is actually there?

The anti-woo dimension: constraints, incentives, power, timing, risk, bodies, money, enforcement, and consequences.

Open dimension

Dimension

Seam-Sense

Can the person detect hidden affordances in reality?

The hacking dimension: false locks, hidden assumptions, side doors, scale shifts, and frame rotations.

Open dimension

Membrane Integrity

Receptivity

Can the person be affected?

The open side of the membrane: wonder, grief, beauty, atmosphere, symbolic charge, and subtle field contact.

Open dimension

Membrane Integrity

Containment

Can the person remain whole while affected?

The vessel side of the membrane: metabolizing intensity, keeping boundaries, and not flooding the room.

Open dimension

Dimension

Participatory Play

Will the person enter the emergent world?

The capacity to join, sustain, and co-create provisional frames without hijacking them.

Open dimension

Dimension

Field Power

Can the person alter local reality?

The gravity dimension: attention, momentum, narrative force, participation, emotional temperature, and coordinated movement.

Open dimension

Dimension

Generative Valence

Does the person's influence increase or decrease other people's agency?

The moral razor: generated aliveness versus borrowed aliveness.

Open dimension

Dimension

Stewardship

Can the person preserve fragile goods over time?

The stabilizer: trust, safety, memory, culture, bodies, ecosystems, institutions, rituals, and the boring necessary thing.

Open dimension

Required overlay

Temporal Durability

Does the aliveness survive leaving their field?

The required overlay that catches the year-one magic / year-five disaster pattern.

Compounds

  • Courage remains.
  • Skills remain.
  • Possibilities remain visible.
  • The group becomes stronger without needing the person constantly present.

Decays

  • Dependency.
  • Exhaustion.
  • Confusion.
  • Abandoned agency.
  • Brittle systems or interpersonal wreckage.
